2019 Exhibits

Monday, April 22, 2019

In 2019 there is one exhibit showing in the last quarter of the year, and another in the first quarter of 2020, requiring your preparation in 2019.

The first exhibit is at the California History Center on the De Anza College campus, titled:

California Fresh
Creeks, Lakes and Rivers, Mother Nature's Precious Gift

Submission of thumbnails: 8/1/2019
Hanging of prints:  Sept 16-20
Soft Opening:  Sept 23
Official Opening: Sept 28
Take down of photos:  Dec 14

Realizing that there are still 5 months to the exhibit, you are encouraged to gather or generate your best work.  The subject of Fresh Water in California is timely with the onset of global warming and the erratic weather we are experiencing:  severe drought followed by floods.  Fresh water, whatever the source, is key to California's future.

Exhibit requirements:

With the exception of the "over the fireplace photo" please send your thumbnails to Rick Varley by Aug 1 with the following information:

Your Name / email address / phone number / total number of images

For each photo  (please prioritize your photos 1 - 4):
Title / Caption (optional) / Not for Sale (NFS) or Price if for sale / dimensions of frame /
Clarify if your photos are for the Wall, Pedestal or Fireplace.

Wall Mounting Requirements:
Max size -  16 x 20 inches
Hanging wire must be 1.5 to 2 inches from the top of frame
Canvass and Aluminum do not require a frame, all others must be framed
Glass is okay

Display Pedestals
There are 3 pedestals with plexiglass tops, 35" square, 2 with 30" tall tops, & 1 with a 24" top.
Photographers will be awarded a pedestal to express a theme in any number of photos that fit within.  Photos need not be framed.  The photos must be attractively arranged to reinforce the California Fresh theme.

The space above the fireplace is 8.5 ft wide.  A single mounted photo will be chosen for this space.  The photo may be panorama, diptych, triptych, cluster or split in either canvass, metal or paper (framed).

Due to the amount of work and cost associated with this location, the photo thumbnail must be submitted by July 1. If your picture is not chosen, you will still have time to submit entries for the other locations within the room.

The second exhibit is at the Jewish Community Center of Silicon Valley (JCC).  This will be in the first quarter of 2020.  Unless you contact Rick Varley, all photos will be moved over to the JCC.
